Kalkan is a small peaceful Mediterranean resort and fishing town on the beautiful Turquoise Coast of Turkey, Kalkan has not been affected by mass tourism. More sophisticated than the usual resort town, Kalkan appeals to travelers looking for more than a "sun and sea" holiday.

The surrounding district is rich in antiquities, and the real Turkey lies just behind the Toros Mountains surrounding Kalkan.

Nearest airport is Dalaman (2 hours by taxi or minibus). Antalya is a 3-hour ride by bus or car. Transfers from Dalaman airport can be arranged, as an extra charge, as can car hire if required.

It would be true to say that the majority of visitors to Kalkan are British, supplemented by Turks attracted by Kalkan’s authentic, yet relatively sophisticated ambience. A recent Sunday Times article likened visitors to Kalkan to those attracted to Tuscany and the Dordogne.

In the evening, Kalkan’s true character shows with a wonderful nightlife. Begin the evening, drink in hand, admiring the sunset from the terrace, before strolling through myriad winding cobbled streets with colourful local shops. Stop for another aperitif in one of the many roof-top bars. These bars symbolise the Kalkan atmosphere – some play jazz, others classical or contemporary music. However, all of them enjoy the same marvellous views. Follow this with dinner at one of the excellent harbour side, village or hotel restaurants. As there are so many to choose from, it would not be politic to name any of our particular favourites, however, we are confident that you will have enormous fun discovering them for yourselves!
